Fear Is Illogical (For A Christian)

Romans 3:18: There is no fear of God before their eyes.

The lack of fear in unbelievers is irrational and tragic. They have plenty to be afraid of but they seem not to be afraid. If an unbeliever becomes afraid he might turn to the Lord.

Hebrews 10:31: It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Unbelievers hate Hell-fire preaching. It makes them afraid. It makes them angry. They criticize it. They would prefer to be brought to God in a comfortable manner of their own choosing. They are afraid of the wrong things. They ought to be afraid about eternal matters. They are often afraid of little dangers here on earth but they are not afraid to defy God. Every phobia is rooted in not trusting God. Some people can be led by love. Some need to be pushed by fear. Only God knows what will work on each individual.

Jude 1:23: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

1 Corinthians 9:22: To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

Christians ought to be afraid to sin and they ought to fear what will happen to unbelievers. Any other fear is illogical for them. When we Christians fear the temporary bad things that can happen to us here on earth we forget God*s promises. We forget that God has rescued us from eternal bad things (judgment). We doubt God*s good intentions or we doubt His power to accomplish them. We doubt that God is good or we doubt that He knows best or we doubt that He loves us.

Mark 4:40: And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
